Back in Argentina

It has now been a few weeks since we have been back! It was so nice to see many of you during our time there. We were encouraged to be with you and to reconnect to many of you. Thanks for your ongoing encouragement, prayer and support. We really appreciate it!

We are getting back in the swing of things here in the midst of the intense heat (the exact opposite of your weather!) Thiago will be born in about a month, Alaina and Febe will be starting school again in about two weeks and Wendy will be adjusting to all of these changes (we just got her potty trained on time for Thiagos' birth!).

The church is doing well. We are delighted to see people here. Just yesterday we enjoyed a wedding of a couple that has recently understood the gospel and its implications. They have a son and have been living together for about fifteen years (I took them this morning to the airpot to experience their two week honeymoon in Brazil).

It was a sweet time to see these young new believers get married. One thing about Argentina that we love is weddings. The food is incredible! It truly is a time of feasting. I think I ate about nine different types of meat yesterday. We started lunch at 1:00 pm (normally weddings are at night) and were still enjoying coffee and desert at the table at 4:30 pm. Just like the Old Testament meals mean a lot. They are a time for feasting and bonding. We enjoyed getting to interact with some of Panda and Marcela's non Christian friends. Just as Christ ministered at a wedding, these informal times can be key ministry opportunities to build relationships with lost people.

Sermons on Sunday. I continue to preach through the Book of Luke. We should be finishing at Easter. The last two Sundays I took a break from Luke and spent time as people get back from their summer vacations on some of the basics. I did a sermon (more like a workshop) on why and how to have a consistent Quiet Time and then last Sunday on the importance of the body of Christ (the importance of individual and corporate disciplines).

I am reminded of how important it is for all of us to go over the basics and live them out! We are developing a notebook for the whole church to use for their quiet times. In it you can choose to follow a 15 min, 30 min, or one hour quiet time routine each day. I am excited about this resource for us all!

Talking to some of you on this trip I discovered that it probably is better for me to write shorter letters but more often. So that is what I will do!

Thanks for your prayers and support!

Until next update,

Warmly,

Greg

"...discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." - 1 Tim. 4:7-8
