Settling on the Far Side of the Sea
I have been on home service for four months now, a term a fellow missionary has defined that I think accurately gives a clear picture of what I'm doing in the States until I head back out to foreign field ... "a temporary change of ministry location and assignment to one's home country." Until early January of 2009, my focus will be on reconnecting with the people and churches that pray for me and make it possible to serve overseas. Can't wait to hear about the significant things that have happened in your life over the past four years while I have been in Mexico.
Recently in the past two months, I have traveled to two different countries on two different continents to seek God's direction for future service. It is with great joy to share God's confirmation to serve in CHINA. There is so much to do before I head out (language school starts in Feb). When I think of what life and ministry would be like in China and get overwhelmed, I find comfort and courage in reading Psalm 139 and particularly verses 9-10, "...if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
I was born in the East, raised in the West, and now returning to the East, blessed beyond measure of having a personal relationship with God, to bless others with the same blessing.
In the weeks to come, I look forward to sharing with you the amazing things God is doing through the Serve team in Shanghai. Thank you for your prayers and financial givings to enable me to prepare for the next field. Let's continue to make His Name great!
