Becoming Familiar with the Aiport
I'm not talking about our travel in or outside of the country. I've become familiar with the airport in the last couple of months because we've had numerous visits. It has been FUN, encouraging, very busy, challenging and rewarding.
In November and in December we had the privilege of receiving:
-Kurt and Lore - they came down to get married. It was my first wedding to do and it was a privilege to marry my Argentine sister-in-law and one of my teammates. They are currently in the US raising support to be back in Argentina by the end of 2006
-George and Emily - We had the privilege to get to know Emily. They plan to be married in February in the US. George is also on our team. Like Kurt he had previously done a six month stint with us. They came to Argentina for Kurt's wedding and for Emily to get to know Argentina. (By the way if you become part of the Argentina team as a singe you'll probably marry soon after - so far all three singles did :) ).
-Brian Leicht and Paul Polk: Both on staff at Denton Bible. We organized a conference for them to do with pastors and leaders. They covered the biblical perspective of marriage and divorce. It was a true blessing to all who attended. The pastors were very grateful.
-James Arnold and Mike Scheer: James is the missions pastor for Denton Bible and Mike is his assistant who is over our work in Argentina. There visit was a source of blessing, encouragement and direction. We had good conversations about the year and the years to come (future plans for ministry, decisions, etc.) Its great to not be alone in making big and long-term decisions for ministry.
-A group of nine people of different ages who helped us do some evangelistic activiy and contact in City Bell. We did everything from an American Brunch (uuummm yummy!), having George play jazz for us in a local coffee shop to painting the rooms in an orphanage. The purpose of this trip was to gain credibility and share Christ as opportunities arised (several oppts developed in an non-threatning atmosphere to do this) in our community through various activities. The professional class of Argentina is an unreached area that this team had a significant part in reaching.
We praise God for these months. We are now preparing for a couple of months in the US. More on this later...
