TEAM MINISTRY

It is excited to have all team members in Argentina. We recently had a prayer breakfast. It was a fun time of fellowship, planning and prayer. I thought I'd share with you some of the thing we are planning for the next months.

Here's what we anticipate in the next months:

BTCP

We are moving towards getting the books printed in Argentina. In the process of doing so we are doing a revision that includes a color cover. We continue to have new oportunities for startups (we are participating in a new BTCP startup in a couple of weeks from now). Next month we will be involved in a BTCP graduation in the north of Argentina (one that we started a couple of years ago). Kurt is helping us develop some things via internet and email to encourage pastors in the interior.

IBLP (Insituto Biblico La Plata)

Classes have begun for the Bible Insitute that Nico and I lead and teach. We are offering five classes with several of us teaching. I will be teaching NT survey, co-teach leadership and teach a monthly class on discipleship. It should be fun. We have about 22 students in the institute. We are trying to have a structure where all students have some sort of mentoring in their life.

UNION CHURCH

We are involved mainly in four areas: developing the small groups, assisting the college group, expanding the evangelism ministry, and developing the teaching and preaching ministry. It has been exciting and challenging to see the doors God has opened for us to serve in this growing church composed of a large portion of university students and professionals. In April and May I will be reducing my preaching and teaching load. I really needed this (there were a few weeks where I was preaching and teaching two different messages every Sunday). It has been great to be in the pulpit a lot: a great learning and growing process. I believed God has blessed many of the messages. However, I needed to balance my time with other areas and train and encourage some of the leaders in the church to be in the pulpit more. I am meeting with those who have preached before and taking them through a book on Expository Preaching.

We are developing a new mind-set for the small group ministry. There was a need to put some structure and vision for this critical ministry. Hopefully this is happening.

Nico and Kurt are working together in expanding the evangelism ministry to the various segments of the church. Kurt continues to help make some contributions towards the college group ministry.

As a church right now we are preaching using a central text through the ten values that we developed last year. The message I preached on last Sunday was a message I needed for me: Divine Dependence (John 15:1-8). We can do many things but if we are not connected to the vine, we are not doing anything.

TEAM MINISTRY

We are planning for all of us to meet (families included) at least once a month for fun, fellowship and prayer. We are also planning a retreat for team building for the month of August. Argentina has some beautiful places that we can go for a retreat. FUN!!

George and Emily are currently living in Buenos Aires (about an hour an away) studying spanish. They plan to be there at least six months. We enjoy getting to see them on some of the weekends.

This is a broad overview of what we are and will be involved in.

We so appreciate your interest in our lives and in our ministry

PLEASE PRAY:

1. That God would use the BTCP's to encourage pastors and leaders and better equip them for ministry.

2. That God would use the institute to bring about students who will grow in godliness and their effectiveness for Christ in the church and in their witness.

3. That God use us in various ways at the Union Church for the building up of His Church and for His glory.

4. That as a team we would be united, serving and encouraging one another so that our ministry flows from an abundace of life from the depth of our relationships.

HAPPY EASTER!! Everything we do makes because Christ physically and historically rose from the dead!! May He be greatly worshiped this season!!

Prayer Requests

04.15.2009 April prayer requests: Please pray: 1. For Christ to be the center and the passion that drives all that we do. 2. For all that is needed for us to go to the conference, for God to provide for the cost to travel to Denton, for Wendy and Caro's passport to arrive on time, for our ministry activities and responsibilities to be covered well in our absence. 3. For a future pastor for the Union church. We are asking God to give us someone from the church that is not one of the missionaries.

10.02.2008 Bolivia Trip and new family member!: Please pray: 1. For encouragement and diligence for the pastors who received the teacher training workshop that we conducted a few weeks ago in Bolivia. Pray that God would give them wisdom and grace to live in the midst of all the political turmoil that is going on right now. 2. For a smooth c-section for Caro. Tomorrow Wendy should be born around 3:30 pm (1:30 Texas time). Pray for peace, safety and health. Pray for our adjustment to this new stage as a family. 3. For God to use us deeply in the lives of key individuals and broadly in the church in our efforts in Christ to be bring about growth and change to the whole body of Centro Cristiano de La Union.

07.27.2008 Medical Mission Trip: Please pray for God's protection, blessing, divine enablement for our Chaco medical mission trip starting today, July 27th through August 3rd. You can read more about this trip in the update Medical Mission Trip.

04.30.2008 PLEASE PRAY: 1. For our family's health. Caro has been battling severe allergy attacks, headaches and flu. Alaina has been sick for several days waking up with fever many nights. 2. For the small group ministry of the church. I'm trying to help a key leader in the church (Leo) develop it in a way that is more effective. Right now there are a lack of leaders for the small groups 3. For the institute - that God would bring life change in the students and equip them for effective ministry. My students names are: Juani, Facu, Vinnie, Barbie, Cecia, Flor and Melisa.

11.27.2007 Please pray for our pastor in Argentina: Our pastor, Mike Terry of the church we serve with in Argentina has had serious chest pains and is now in intensive care. It is very likely that they will be doing surgery today. Pray for God´s intervention in the whole process, for peace for the family and for wisdom for us in determining how this affects our travel plans, when we return to Argentina, etc. Thank you! We will keep you posted! Warmly, Greg, Caro and Alaina

04.07.2007 PLEASE PRAY FOR : 1. Pray that we would have daily quality times with Him. Pray that this would be our greatest priority. 2. Pray for the new small group ministry of the church. That God would use this new structure and that He would show us how to invest our lives into the lives of the leaders. 3. Pray that as a team we would be able to learn how to best work together balancing each other's strengths and weaknesses. Pray that our love for one another would grow deeper and that we would with one voice glorify God. 4. Pray that God would continue to use us in reaching new people in City Bell (last night we had a wonderful time with a group of people from City Bell - some have recently come to faith). 5. Pray for George and Emily's transition to Argentina, for adjustment to culture and language. They've done great so far. That are many other prayer requests but five is probably enough for now. We so appreciate those of you who pray faithfully for us! We so appreciate those who pray for us at Missions Prayer. We treasure your prayers. Keep up the good work. Your prayers are not in vain.
