Travel and Sickness II (photos and update)
We had protesters that cut off the highway so we missed our flight. Our short trip will be cut shorter. We're trusting in God's sovereignty. We leave tomorrow at the same time (there was no other flight). I include the photos this time in this update.
..................................................................
Off to Bolivia! George and I get on a plane today to Cochabamba, Bolivia. We will be giving the training for the teacher who will be doing a Bible Training Center for Pastors and Leaders of the area. It will be a quick trip. We leave today and return on Sunday.
Please pray for our safe travel and for a fruitful time. Also, last time I traveled (on the medical mission trip), my wife really sensed spiritual warfare in the time I was gone (Alaina got real sick, she feel off the stairs, etc.) So we really want to cover this trip with more prayer.
God did some really neat things with the medical mission trip in Chaco (I hope to send you a link soon to a video). We had numerous opportunities to share the faith, help the sick, take clothing, etc. It was a full trip. One day the doctor on our trip saw 97 people in one day!! (with translators).
The last month and a half has been a month of travel (receiving people and personal and ministry travel) and sickness. As a family we have been sick numerous times. Its been exciting, busy and challenging. After the Chaco mission trip we enjoyed the visit of two single girls considering long-term missions, we had Charles Stolfus come down and do a series on intelligent design, and homosexuality and we had one of our stinters finish her three month term and return to the US. As a family we also traveled for a five day vacation and this trip to Bolivia should be my last trip for the year.
We're excited as we anticipate the birth of Wendy (our second daughter) who should be born in about a month! Praise God!
Apart from these things, the new semester has begun and I have started teaching Theology at the institute, our pastor is on sabbatical so more responsibility has fallen on us in preaching, decision making, etc.
My wife is excited about the new women's ministry that was begun right after Janis from the missions office came to encourage the women of our team in May. The women from the church continue to meet in our home once a month to worship, fellowship and have a devotional together. It has been a real encouragement for the women.
Please pray for God's protection for my family as I travel Wisdom in guiding, shepherding our church towards God's purposes Intimacy in my personal walk and my family's personal walk with the Lord
