New beginnings
A new year is a wonderful opportunity to commit or recommit to new goals and challenges. As a family and as a team we are excited about this new year. We are trusting God and seeking Him for greater intimacy with Him, with each other and greater and more effective service for Him.
A key verse in my life has been Acts 13:36, "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep..." David (in spite of his shortcomings) fulfilled God's purpose. He did what God wanted Him to do on this planet. May this be a year where we are increasingly committed to do what God wants us to do as long as we are alive until we part to be with Him.
Here are some of things we are hoping, praying, planning for this year,
We want to increase our prayer. As a team, as a family and me individually. We have planned some times for this. As Em Bounds stated, "He who is too busy to pray is to busy to lead a holy life." Ouch! This is a constant challenge in our day. May God grant us His grace and promptings to be people of PRAYER.
As a family we want to grow in how he shepherd our kids (devotionals, scripture memory, discipline, family routine, etc.) In our marriage we want to grow in intimacy, communication, conflict resolution, date nights, etc. As the Lord leads you pray for us.
Personally, I am looking forward to fulfilling goals such as reading more books that are more meaty (ie Edwards) and reviving, reviewing and relearning my Greek so that I can better study, obey and teach God's word.
As a ministry team I´d like us to grow in effective service. Here are some of the things we have in mind for the year:
-New BTCP - We want to be directly involved in a new Bible Training Center (meaning we teach through the whole BTCP mainly Kurt Grothe)
-All BTCP books printed - We want to finish printing the 200 copies per book (there are ten books) so that new centers can be started. This requires that we finish the revision. We are almost there. We also hope to visit all of the current BTCPs (about 7) for encouragement, support, etc.
-Discipleship - We want to focus even more on meeting with key individuals in our church who are the leaders and future leaders of it.
-IBLP (Instituto Biblico La Plata) - Similar to BTCP but for a different audience. BTCP is primarily desgined for current pastors. IBLP is designed primarily for young leaders who are in La Plata (many in college who have more education). They are either present leaders or future leaders. We want to promote it more in the city and recruit new students that we can train so they can be a blessing to their churches.
-Website - Our website in spanish is almost finished. We want to offer as many tools and as much help to pastors and leaders across the country. For example, many pastors have never heard a expository message in Spanish and in a Latin context. We will have the sermons that Nico and I have preached (most of them are expository) on the web so that they can be downloaded.
-Team - We hope to grow in our love towards each other and in accomplishing things together as a team. My desire and prayer is that each team member could make significant contributions to God's kingdom in a way that surpasses previous years.
-Church Plant - We look forward to see how God works as we have begun to be more involved in leading a small group of believers with no church towards a church plant in an area where no solid bible teaching churches exist and in a terrain that is very postmodern and postchristian. PRAY FOR US!
-Contact with DBC- If God permits we anticipate being at the missions conference this year in May. If we are able to make this trip we look forward to seeing many of you. Also we look forward to receiving several short term trips (construction and training).
We are so grateful for your involvement with us through prayer and giving!
Warmly,
Greg, Caro, Alaina and Wendy
